The Mt Washington Auto Road is beginning its 156th season for guests to drive their own vehicles to the tree line at 4,200. The 4.5 mile drive to treeline provides stunning vistas of the northern Presidentials and Great Gulf Wilderness offering a true taste of the Mount Washington experience, and as usual, lots of events for 2017 have been planned on the Mt Washington Auto-Road and Great Glen Trails. Bicknell’s Thrush is an extremely rare species with very limited breeding grounds. It is the rarest and most secretive of the breeding thrushes in North America and it is the only bird whose breeding is restricted to the Northeastern part of the continent.

June 17, 2017 : Northeast Delta Dental Mt Washington Road Race
A footrace to the summit of Mt. Washington! Runners from around the globe come to the Mt. Washington Auto Road to take on the fabled climb. Auto Road closed to the public until 1:30pm.

200+ Mini Coopers from around the world enjoy an evening tour and barbecue on the Mt. Washington Auto Road. You can bring your car group or club here too!

The Auto Road opens at 3:30 am for cars, pickups and motorcycles to drive to the summit of Mt. Washington. Experience the brilliant colors, crisp mountain air and maybe even a view of the sun coming up over the Atlantic Ocean.

Three days, 75 cars, some of the best race and rally drivers from around the world, competing for “King of the Hill” honors on the Northeast’s tallest peak-Mt. Washington!

As the largest annual fundraiser of the nonprofit Mount Washington Observatory, Seek the Peak welcomes hikers of all ages and abilities to Mount Washington and its neighboring peaks and places of interest in the beautiful White Mountains of New Hampshire.
August 19, 2017 : Mt Washington Auto Road Bicycle Hill Climb
The Mt. Washington Auto Road Bicycle Hillclimb and Newton’s Revenge are known as the toughest hillclimbs in the world at 7.6 miles in length, has an average grade of 12% with extended sections of 18% and the last 50 yards is an amazing 22%! Sprint that to the finish!
