Alpine Ski & Snowboard
Cranmore Mountain (1 mile from Cranmore Mountain Lodge B&B)
The resort itself holds a long tradition of ski culture that dates back to the great Ski Meister Hannes Schneider in 1939. For over 79 years Cranmore has been entertaining families with fun and festive winter activities. Cranmore Mountain offers 56 trails (16 easier, 25 Intermediate, 15 difficult), 9 lifts and 170 skiable acres.
Black Mountain (15 minutes from Cranmore Mountain Lodge B&B)
Beginner and novice skiers enjoy their gentle learning slopes, while more advanced skiers navigate the traditional trails; all with beautiful scenery. Experts head for the summit where views of Mount Washington are as thrilling as the chute down Upper Maple Slalom. Black’s southern exposure means sunny and warm conditions on even the coldest New Hampshire days. Black Mountain offers 45 trails, 5 lifts and 143 skiable acres.
Attitash Mountain (15 minutes from Cranmore Mountain Lodge B&B)
Attitash Mountain Resort offers Mt Washington Valley’s only two-mountain experience, with spectacular views of the Presidential Range. Attitash Mountain Resort offers 68 trails (29% novice, 44% intermediate, 27% difficult) over 311 acres and 11 lifts across two big, connected mountains (Attitash & Bear Peak) that combine traditional New England runs and challenging terrain with modern, wide-open cruisers suited for all abilities.
Wildcat Mountain (35 minutes from Cranmore Mountain Lodge B&B)
Steeped in history and located within the White Mountain National Forest, Wildcat delivers spectacular views of Mount Washington, Tuckerman Ravine and surrounding Presidential Range while providing some of New England’s most talked about terrain. Find any Wildcat local and they’ll surely have a tale or two of a legendary day at The ‘Cat. Create your own legend this winter! Wildcat Mountain has been the last ski area in New Hampshire to be operating lift-serviced skiing & riding come spring for the past nine seasons (2007-present). Bretton Woods (45 minutes from Cranmore Mountain Lodge B&B)
Bretton Woods is New Hampshire’s largest ski area with 10 lifts, 464 acres of skiing and snowboarding on 62 trails and 35 glades and three terrain parks! Night skiing is available on weekends.

Across the grounds of the historic Mount Washington Resort and the White Mountain National Forest in New Hampshire, the Bretton Woods Nordic Center is one of the largest cross country ski areas on the East Coast. The 100 kilometer trail network crosses open fields, meanders through woods of spruce and fir, passes beaver ponds and mountain streams, and traverses open hardwood stands. Jackson Ski Touring Foundation (15 minutes from Cranmore Mountain Lodge B&B)
Dominated by views of Mount Washington and the famous Presidential Ridge, the 154+km trail system spans three river valleys and 60 square miles of the splendid highlands of the White Mountains. Explore the forest while gliding across a snowy landscape surrounding the quaint village of Jackson NH. Or take a naturalist-guided snowshoe trek through the woods.
Great Glen Trails (40 minutes from Cranmore Mountain Lodge B&B)
Located at the base of Mt Washington in Pinkham Notch, Great Glen Trails offers winter activities and unique events for families, friends and groups of all ages. MOUNT WASHINGTON VALLEY WINTER ACTIVITIES FOR THE NON-SKIERS
If skiing is not your cup of tea and you are spending a few days here with friends or family, there are plenty of other “snow sports” and soft adventures in the Mt Washington Valley. Here is a list of things we’ve put together. For most of the activities, we propose a lodging package but we can build a “a la carte” package that will suit your needs.
Cranmore Mountain’s tubing park is the #1 in the State of New Hampshire. A magic carpet or a handle tow lift bring you up the hill where 10 lanes await you. Tubing is a family friendly activity that requires no special skills or equipment. Tubes are provided as part of your admission price. All ages welcome. Children 42 inches and taller may ride solo; little ones may ride with an adult!

Mt Washington Snowcoach (40 minutes from Cranmore Mountain Lodge B&B)
Powered by a custom 4-track drivetrain, 9 passenger snowcoaches transport guests to treeline (4,200 feet) on a truly unforgettable winter journey. Winter tours are approximately 75 minutes long and include 15 minutes at the “top-of-the-tour” to experience breathtaking views into the Great Gulf Wilderness or sometimes some of the extreme weather conditions Mt Washington is famous for. Snowmobiling (15 minutes from Cranmore Mountain Lodge B&B)
Some of the best snowmobiling terrain is found right in the White Mountains. One of the main state corridor, corridor 19, runs from New Hampshire’s southern border up to canada crosses Route 16 right before the heart of North Conway Village. Snowmobiles can be rented through Profile Powersports (south of North Conway).
You can also choose guided or self-guided tours through Northern Extremes Snowmobiling (just 15 minutes from Cranmore Mountain Lodge Bed & Breakfast), taking you though the White Mountain National Forest and offering spectacular views of Mt Washington and Mt Chocorua (check out our Snowmobiling Package)
Enjoy ice skating on a maintained three-acre Victorian skating park at Nestlenook Farm (just 10 minutes from Cranmore Mountain Lodge Bed & Breakfast). Skate along the magical Emerald Lake.
During the winter months there is an ice rink set up in Schouler park for public skating (Downtown North Conway Village is only 1.5 miles from Cranmore Mountain Lodge Bed & Breakfast).
If you can walk, you can snowshoe! Snowshoeing is the best way to discover the Mt Washington Valley, especially when you do it with an experienced guide who can help you get the best out of your winter hike, by sharing local secrets, following wild animal tracks in the snow, discovering snow covered boulders or icy formations along streams and guiding you into the wild. There are many options – clear days call for a hike up Mount Willard for sweeping views into Crawford Notch or a trip up Cathedral Ledge trail and the wonderful views of the valley and mountains.

Muddy Paw Sled Dog kennel is a kennel comprised of 86 dogs, ranging from racing Alaskan Huskies, to Siberians and Malamutes. The kennel focuses of rescuing Alaskan huskies in need of a home, giving them a “job for life”. Their favorite thing to do is share the passion and adventure of dog sledding from the musher’s perspective. Tours aren’t just sitting in the sled and going for a ride, but involve interacting with dogs, and learning aspects of a culture that many people don’t get to experience. This family friendly adventures range from 30 minutes to full day excursions. IMCS offers a wide range of kite programs from their Power Kiting program to a wide range of Snow Kiting courses. Power kiting is simply safely flying kites that have the ability to create power. Snow kiting is using the power of a kite and moving on snow covered terrain. It allows riders to move far beyond the gravity powered areas that we are accustomed to from the ski and snowboard world. Snow kiting also opens up another dimension in the world of snow sports as a snow kiter can with ease ride up hills, over terrain, and fly off hills to small mountains kiting into terrain that would not be possible without the kite and a steady wind! Descending over 1000 feet of elevation, the tour takes nature-lovers and thrill-seekers across a series of tree-top zip lines through a network of platforms high in the ancient hemlocks. High-flying suspension bridges and hiking trails connect the nine zip lines, and the tour concludes with the Williwaw Racing Zip, a dual, side-by-side zip line leading right into the Bretton Woods base area! Santa’s Village (45 minutes from Cranmore Mountain Lodge B&B): at Christmastime, open every Saturday & Sunday from the weekend before Thanksgiving through the weekend before Christmas in December + New Year’s Event Partybration 4 pm to 9 pm on December 31st – Santa greets every child, and listens ever so attentively to all the wishes and wants of the season. Mrs. Claus joins in on the hospitality and offers some warm wassail for all their guests. If you visit, be sure to stay ’til after dark when the beautiful lighting throughout the park displays a sense of well-being and warmth on those cooler nights. The Mt Washington Valley offers climbing terrain that resembles the experience on Mount Everest. Many experienced ice climbers come here to learn and practice. Many mountaineering schools and guides offer programs from beginner to experts, such as Synnott Mountain Guides: Learn To Climb Waterfall Ice In New Hampshire: Mt. Washington, Frankenstein Cliffs, Cathedral Ledge, Mt. Willard, Lake Willoughby. You’ll learn how to place screws, build anchors, and set v-threads.
