Check out What’s New and Improved for 2016

This spring 2016, we decided to work on the floors. First we changed some of our bathrooms’ floors. With a very tight budget of only $300, we were able to change the flooring of 3 of our bathroom rooms, repaint them and change some accessories, to improve our guests comfort. The old flooring was made of an old vinyl sheet. We decided to replace it with vinyl tiles, that are, to our opinion, easier to install than a vinyl sheet. They also have the look of ceramic tiles. Now, as you might or might not know, Cranmore Mountain Lodge is more than 140 years old, so no walls, baseboards, floors are flat or straight, so tiles are easier to fit in!

We started with one of our standard queen room located on the third floor: Room 11. A few years back, we had totally repainted the bathroom and room, and redecorated it, but the old vinyl floor was starting to show its age.

We then moved on with our popular Family King Room 8, which we also totally repainted. We added a new mirror and an additional towel rack.

The last room on the list for this spring was the JFK Jr Room 9, on the third floor. It is probably the smallest bathroom of the Inn as it was built in what was a closet. It was also the most challenging: it was a long process to remove the old wallpaper from the walls made out of horsehair, the old floor was extremely difficult to remove, and the floor was completely uneven. But the result is stunning.

And while doing bathroom flooring, we took advantage of all the tools that were already out to repair some broken vinyl tiles that were in our kitchen. We then proceeded to our annual deep scrub of the whole floor and treat the entire floor with a vinyl protectant.

Finally, we also treated our natural wood floor in the dining room.

Now the weather is much warmer and we are taking advantage of some very sunny days to fix and repaint all the decks, including the front porch which is all ready for you!
