The White Mountains of New Hampshire offers a lot of live entertainment althrough this summer, whether you want to relax by a slope side and listen to an outdoor concert, or enjoy a good meal with live music. Here is a list of these 2014 venues :
This is Arts Jubilee’s 32nd year presenting spectacular outdoor concerts on five consecutive Thursday evenings, July 17th, July 24th, July 31st, August 7th and August 14th featuring live performances on the festival stage at Cranmore Mountain Resort, host sponsor.
Bring friends and family plus your own picnic blanket or lawn chairs. An early concert by area performers, is at 6 PM, the featured main performance is at 7:00 PM.
Concerts are presented outdoors in nature’s beautiful setting with mountain views at the base of the north slope at Cranmore Mountain Resort, North Conway, NH, just one mile away from Cranmore Mountain Lodge.

Bob Halligan Jr is an American rock singer, musician and songwriter who has collaborated with many artists (Cher), particularly in the hard rock/heavy metal genre (Judas Priest, Kix, Kiss), throughout his career. He is currently the lead vocalist and guitarist for the band Ceili Rain, a group he founded which combines Celtic, rock and contemporary Christian music

Don Campbell is an adult contemporary/country crossover and folk-rock singer-songwriter whose uniquely clear and well-delivered presentation of music supports the story in the song and welcomes the audience on board for the ride. Chasing Asia over the years has evolved from a few friends playing around having a good time into a band that has gained notoriety as one of the Valley’s well known groups. Starting off in the après music scene, Chasing Asia has played at numerous venues throughout the area. With over 60 years combined experience they are known to please the crowd with an eclectic mix of 80’s, punk rock and new wave tunes that other bands are afraid to play. Chasing Asia guarantees good times, good vibes and an endless amount of energy.

Since coming together just a few years ago, The Ross Livermore Band has been creating buzz in Boston and gaining momentum along the East Coast. From modest beginnings at open mic nights on the North Shore, to packing some of Boston’s most well-known music halls, RLB has a way of connecting with their audiences that makes fans feel as though they’ve known them for years. Taking cues from influences like Stevie Wonder, Incubus and Dave Matthews Band, the Ross Livermore Band blends rock, funk and pop to create a profound and energetic sound that gets their fans dancing and hearts stirring.

AUGUST 09, 2014 : Pat Foley Band
Pat has performed over 5,000 shows during his 20-year career. He has performed for and captured audiences from New England to the Mid-West. Pat has performed over 250 shows a year since 1989. With a songlist of more than 600 cover songs it gave him a great base to build on his own songwriting skills, it also polished him into being an energetic and passionate entity on stage. An audience can’t help but be affected by his chameleon-like stage presence and versatility. He is currently writing and performing in the New England area and has started recording with his new band. The Pat Foley Band. A 3 piece line up that has guest musicians from time to time. His new album should be out sometime this year. He is currently performing both Solo acoustic and Band shows throughout the New England area.
AUGUST 16, 2014 : Blue James Band
The Blue James Band is an American rock band founded and fronted by vocalist and guitar player Clifton Williams. The Blue James Band was formed in Los Angeles, California, but are now based in Boston, MA. “The evening’s opening act, The Blue James Band, showcased its acoustic/electric jam-pop, never straying far from the formula that makes it successful – catchy hooks, reggae-tinged grooves and chops-laden solos. Frontman Clifton Williams and keyboardist Valerie Taylor’s harmonies complement each other perfectly (as on “Believe”) and an impeccably tight drums and bass combo allows them to trade solos with equal aplomb (“Full Circle”). It didn’t take long – just two songs – before the Blue James Band had the first dancer of the night on her feet, swaying and flailing as the band chugged along happily and handily.”

Having played to packed rooms at various clubs throughout Greater Boston, including The Middle East, Church, Tommy Doyles (former House of Blues), in addition to a residency at O’Leary’s Bar, The Gravel Project electrifies crowds with inventive original songs, creative interpretations of well known classics, and sensational group improvisation.

Originally from Maine, Jonathan has performed throughout the country. His style is a blend of classic American roots, country, and folk rock, often referred to as Americana. His style is all his own and his unique guitar arrangements lend themselves to the rock band format and the great players he has worked with.

A contemporary take on the 18th-century genre of the pastiche, this delightful Baroque fantasy brings together some of the greatest arias and ensembles by Handel, Vivaldi, Rameau, Purcell, and other composers, with a new English libretto by Jeremy Sams, inspired by Shakespeare’s The Tempest and A Midsummer Night’s Dream. The all-star cast is headed by David Daniels as Prospero, Joyce DiDonato as Sycorax, Danielle de Niese as Ariel, Luca Pisaroni as Caliban, and the legendary Plácido Domingo as Neptune. William Christie conducts this dazzling world-premiere production.

Center Stage Theater presents their summer children’s musical theater workshop adaptation of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory under the direction of Mary Bastoni-Rebmann. This performance is a culmination of a 2-week camp emphasizing education through the arts. Tickets are $3 general admission and will be available at the door.
JULY 30, 2014 – 7:00 TO 9:00 : Met Opera Summer Encore: La Rondine
Puccini’s achingly beautiful score charmingly conveys the plight of Magda (the “swallow” of the title), who unexpectedly finds true love with the handsome young Ruggero. But their idyllic life comes to a premature end as she is haunted by the fear that her checkered past will ruin his future. Opera stars Angela Gheorghiu and Roberto Alagna portray Puccini’s star-crossed lovers. Nicholas Joël’s production features elegant and sophisticated art-deco sets that contribute to the dazzling stage picture.
AUGUST 6, 2014 – 7:00 pm TO 9:30 pm : Met Opera Summer Encore: La Fanciulla del West
Puccini’s musical vision of the American West is vividly brought to life in the Met’s atmospheric production. Deborah Voigt is Minnie, the “girl of the golden west” and owner of a bar in a Californian mining camp. Marcello Giordani sings Dick Johnson, the bandit-turned-lover hunted by the cynical sheriff Jack Rance (Lucio Gallo), who wants Minnie for himself. Complete with whiskey-drinking cowboys, gunplay, a poker game, and a snowstorm, La Fanciulla del West is Puccini at his most colorful.

The world’s most famous love story comes to operatic life with superstars Anna Netrebko and Roberto Alagna as the star-crossed young couple. Their performances brought audiences to their feet in both the opera house and in movie theaters. Gounod’s ultra-sensual interpretation of Shakespeare also features Nathan Gunn as Mercutio and Plácido Domingo on the podium.

Over the course of her career, Mary Chapin Carpenter has recorded 13 albums and sold over 13 million records, won five Grammy Awards, was named the Country Music Association’s Female Vocalist of the Year in 1992 and 1993, has won two Academy of Country Music awards, one Emmy award, and, in 2012, was inducted into the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame.

In a mother/daughter duo, Suzzy Roche and Lucy Wainwright Roche have been celebrating their first album, Fairytale and Myth, and were recently featured on NPRs Mountain Stage. Suzzy Roche of course is a founding member of female folkies, The Roches, the much beloved trio of three sisters. Lucy Wainwright Roche has had a critically acclaimed solo career with her quirky and insightful songwriting, carrying on a family legacy of talented musicians.
JULY 18, 2014 : Heather Maloney and Darlingside
If a group is on the Signature Sound record label, you should just know it will be good. This little label is putting out some of the best new music out there today..these folks are no exception. Recently collaborated on their new EP, “Woodstock”, songstress Heather Maloney and string band Darlingside’s version of the title track would make you swear you were listening to a revamped Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young with Joni Mitchell.

Best known for his song “Walking in Memphis”. Marc Cohn is a beautiful piano player and outstanding singer and performer. His stage banter is equally as entertaining as his songs, and last time lots of people missed him because of the quick sell out…don’t be left out … This is one of those shows you wish would never end.

We all know him well, as one of the famous three and the the vocie behind the “Wedding Song” but he is also an independent musician who passionately believes in bringing the spiritual into the practice of daily life. Singer/songwriter Noel Paul Stookey has been altering both the musical and ethical landscape of this country and the world for decades. Funny, irreverently reverent, thoughtful, compassionate—passionate—Stookey’s vocal sound is known all across this land: from the “Wedding Song” to “In These Times.”

One of the most celebrated country-folk performers of her day, singer/songwriter Iris Dement has a voice that exists beyond time. The closing credit song in the remake movie “Tue Grit” gaine her new and well deserved fans, but also reminded old ones how emotional her voice is. The iconic and profoundly influential Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, is often cited as a catalyst for an entire movement in Country Rock and American Roots Music. They are and will be Jeff Hanna, Jimmie Fadden, Bob Carpenter, and John McEuen. The band’s successes include a cover version of Jerry Jeff Walker’s “Mr. Bojangles”.
