We are a Sustainable Lodging Property

We, as individuals,  family and lodging property, believe that each one of us must reduce our impact on the environment, educate and raise awareness on ways to preserve the White Mountains and keep it the way we and you love it for many generations to come.

How do we do this?

  • We recycle as much as we can: newspapers, paper, plastic, aluminum and tin cans, glass, corrugated boxes... Please use the recycling bins that are in our kitchen, as well as those in the outdoor porch. Keep recyclable items out of your garbage can in your room so that our staff can properly dispose of them.
  • We reuse stained and old towels and linens as cleaning rags;
  • We use recycled toilet paper and kitchen towels;
  • We use as many environmentally friendly cleaning products as possible;
  • During your stay with us, we won't change your towels or linens unless you ask us to;
  • When appliances need to be replaced (such as air conditioners, TV, DVD, computer, washer, dryer...) we replace them with Energy Star Models;
  • We replace used lighting with low energy bulbs (not only in the corridors and common rooms, but in each guest room as well) to save energy, and dispose of fluorescent light tubes properly;
  • We heat the entire lodge with Bioheat, a renewable resource that is derived from a plant-based agricultural product grown right here in the United States;
  • We encourage "green" activities, such as hiking, biking, climbing, swimming...
  • We grow an organic vegetable garden, and use only organic fertilizers (such as our own compost); If you come in Summer, you can taste some of our home-grown produce;
  • We water our vegetables and flowers only when necessary. We NEVER water the grass.
  • We use single sided waste paper as office notepads (to take your reservations or print your registration papers!);

We are member of the New Hamsphire Sustainable Lodging and Restaurant Program .

Please click here  to learn more about how you can join us with these efforts during your stay with us. Being a green hotel is an on-going effort and we welcome any of your comments and suggestions.

How can you help us?

  • Recycle as much as you can. Dispose of your recyclable items in the containers in our kitchen or porch area.
  • Turn all the lights off when you leave your room;
  • Turn the air conditioning or heater off or to a minimum when you leave your room;
  • Close the windows when the air conditioning or heater is on;
  • Reuse your room towels and linens; the bed linen won't be changed during your stay with us, unless you ask for it;
  • Reuse your pool towels;
  • After using the outdoor hot tub, turn back down the temperature to 96 and shud down the cover;
  • If you use our common areas in the evening, turn off all the lights when you leave;
  • We provide you with plastic glasses in your room. If we find them out of your trashcan, we won't dispose of them;
  • Let us know when a faucet or toilet is leaking so that we can fix it;

Thank you!
