“Every year for the past ten years, over twenty-five communities and nearly one thousand volunteers gather on the first Saturday of May to clean hundreds of miles of roadways starting their summer with a fresh clean face. The tradition has become one of the most celebrated days of the year for Mount Washington Valley and Western Maine. Following a morning of hard work the community celebrates with a good old fashion BBQ creating a bond of community and pride. The frosting on the case is when thousands of daffodils are planted each fall to commemorate the labor and love of the earth. All are invited to be part of the solution.” The White Mountains of New Hampshire are a wonderful heritage. Join us on May 1st and be proud to preserve their beauty so that you can enjoy all they have to offer for generations to come! On Saturday morning, after a healthy breakfast, go to the Hampton Inn where you will be assigned an area to clean. To thank you for your participation to our giant Spring clean up, you are then invited to a community barbecue between Noon and 2 pm, including Flatbread Pizza, Ben & Jerry’s ice cream, Wentworth cookies… The water park will be open for the kids to play in. Mountain Top Music will entertain you with excellent music. On top of all this celebration, hundreds of prizes and giveaways collected thoughout the community will be won. Everybody gets something! After the celebration, you can use your VIP card and coupons to go shopping for the summer to come with extra savings, or the Valley Pass to go horseback riding or have a carriage ride at Farm by the River, then relax in our outdoor hot tub before heading out for a dinner at Rafferty’s Restaurant or A Taste Of Thai Restaurant. Sunday morning, after another healthy breakfast, is a good time for a short hike to Diana’s Bath for example, to discover one of the numerous waterfalls in our area, which is certainly beautiful at this time of the year, before heading back home.
